Ternopil State Medical University is located in scenic Ternopil in western Ukraine. It is a tertiary educational institution, a center of biomedical research and training. TSMU has a proud and rich heritage of academic excellence and these days is being consistently ranked among top 5 medical schools in the country.

The University is a leading provider of high quality professional medical training for international students. At TSMU we are passionate about teaching and learning. Our motto is “Every Student Matters”. The University encourages and embraces diversity in all facets of student experience. 
Currently 5,628 students are enrolled on full-time and distance courses in specialties of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Physical rehabilitation, and Nursing. Students can pursue professional, bachelor’s, master’s and post-graduate degrees.

The majority (98%) of international students study in English, while more than 50% of TSMU lecturers have certificates of proficiency in English.

The university implements the latest in teaching approaches, including telecommunications and telemedicine technologies, stimulation center and phantom classes. The Institute of Nursing is the only school in Ukraine offering distance learning programs leading to Bachelor’s and Master’s in Nursing for domestic and international students.

TSMU professors carry out research projects in a number of clinical and biomedical areas. On average up to 35 major research projects are ongoing each year, as well as over ten clinical trials. Each year, TSMU hosts 20 research and applied science conferences in various areas of medicine.

In 2016 Ternopil State Medical University has become one of the 10 universities in Ukraine participating in Strengthening Academic Integrity in Ukraine Project (SAIUP), the initiative developed by the Ukrainian Ministry of Education and Science, the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, and American Councils.

For the last 12 years TSMU has been organizing the International Student Summer Camp for its students, as well as students from European and American universities.

The university’s international partnerships with more than 50 universities and institutes in Europe, Asia, USA and Canada provide an opportunity for collaboration and global academic exchange. The University is an active participant in international funding programs and projects: Erasmus +, Erasmus Mundus MEDEA, Horizon 2020, Polonez, cross-border project PL-BY-UA, and Baltic University Programme.
